'Calcutta in Transit' is a print design project inspired by the iconic public transport of Calcutta, a city that is still breathing in old world charm. The rusty buses and trams and the signature yellow taxis and hand-pulled rickshaws are an essential part of the city’s soul. Even in its dilapidated state, it serves as a hub for interactions and connections. Although some advancement won’t do any harm,the vehicles and the system are perfectly imperfect in their present status.
The following moodboard was developed keeping in mind the rustic aesthetic of Calcutta, where all elements are hand drawn. It aims to capture the essence and vibe of the chaotic streets through colour, texture and form. An extensive list of look words and emotive words were drawn out to develop a better understanding of the theme.

Print concepts were developed using techniques such as bleaching and etching. Mediums used range from oil pastels to photo inks and poster colours. All concepts are handmade in A3 size. They have been visualised on apparel for womenswear.
